South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SCIA), Chartered Institute of Arbitration East Asia Branch (CIArb (EAB)), Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Commercial Mediation Alliance, Guangdong Lawyers Association, Shenzhen Lawyers Association will jointly carry out the above courses and project training. Arbitrators, mediators, lawyers and other professionals interested in the field of international arbitration have the opportunity to become members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration at different levels after receiving relevant training.
In order to properly arrange the training of each course item, we will investigate among relevant people to understand everyone’s demand for relevant courses. Each project course takes about one and a half days to two days to complete, usually scheduled on Friday and Saturday.
1. Introduction to International Arbitration Course (Junior Member, ACIArb)
The Chartered Institute of Arbitration has a set of standard introductory course materials, namely “Introduction to International Commercial Arbitration” (2012 edition). The course is based on the United Nations International Trade Law Commission's arbitration model law, and includes the arbitration rules and procedures of many well-known arbitration institutions around the world. This set of materials has been translated into Chinese, so candidate members can get the English or Chinese version of this set of materials.
This course covers ten aspects:
(1) Basic characteristics of international arbitration (6)Management of arbitration proceedings
(2) Arbitration Laws and Rules ( 7) Court trial
(3) Composition of the arbitral tribunal ; (8) Arbitration fees and interest
(4) Jurisdiction and powers of the arbitral tribunal (9) Making of arbitration award
(5) Arbitration application and defense ( 10) Recognition and enforcement of awards
Getting started Requirements:
Applicants should hold professional qualifications or industry qualifications corresponding to their occupations. The course covers the United Nations International Trade Law Commission's Arbitration Model Law. Therefore, whether it is a party, a lawyer, a witness, a judge or an arbitrator, this course is useful for understanding the law that adjusts the arbitration procedure from a broad perspective.
how Teach?
The course is mainly conducted by the instructor, and there will be some discussion sessions to help candidate members familiarize themselves with the arbitration settings. After the course, the candidate members are required to submit a written assignment explaining their knowledge of arbitration practice.
2.Intermediate member crash course (ARM) (Intermediate member, MCIArb)
Course Goal:
Provides a crash course for candidates who have experience in litigation or arbitration and are interested in training courses, and are already junior members with relevant legal qualifications, and become Intermediate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
To complete the course, candidate members need to (i) complete a pre-class assignment, which accounts for 20% of the total score; (ii) pass after the course ends A three-hour written test, which accounts for 80% of the total score.

The day when the candidate members participate in the seminar is the time of the course. The seminar includes evaluation seminars and written examinations to assess candidate members’ knowledge of international arbitration, their ability to draft documents, and their ability to deal with arbitration practice and procedural issues.
This is not a lecture course. The evaluation process is intense, and candidates who want to obtain intermediate membership will be evaluated in accordance with the standards throughout the training process. Candidate members need to understand their own adaptability to the project curriculum. Candidate members should know in advance how international arbitration works. At the end of the project course, there will be a three-hour written test.
