The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is the only professional surveying organization established by law in Hong Kong. It was established in 1984. As of December 9, 2014, the number of members has reached 9,324, of which 6092 are full members, 67 are associate members, and survey surveys are apprenticeships. Teachers and students accounted for 3165 people. Our association opened a Beijing office in 2014 in Haidian District, Beijing.
The work of the Association is mainly to formulate professional service standards, including formulating professional codes, determining the requirements for joining the ranks of professional surveyors, and encouraging members to improve their professional skills through continuous professional training.
The Association plays an important advisory role in formulating government policies, and pays close attention to matters affecting the measurement profession. We have provided advice to the government on illegal building issues, building safety campaigns, property management issues, urban planning and development strategies, building quality and housing issues, and issued guidelines on the measurement standards of building area. Currently, the Association is revising the standard construction contract documents.
As for contacts with overseas and domestic, the Association has signed agreements with professional surveying and appraisal societies in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and China to recognize each other’s membership; in addition, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is also a number of internationally renowned surveying organizations the member of.
