1. On December 7, 2013, the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance was established in Qianhai, Shenzhen. Founding members include: Zhong Mediation Center of South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Securities and Futures Industry Dispute Mediation Center, China Foreign Trade Center (Canton Fair Complaint Station), Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce Mediation and Arbitration Center (Guangdong Private Enterprise Complaint Center), Shenzhen Foreign Businessmen Commercial Mediation Committee of Investment Enterprise Association, Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce Mediation and Arbitration Center, Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association Commercial Mediation Committee, Hong Kong Joint Mediation Hotline Office, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, Hong Kong Mediation Council, Hong Kong Institute of Arbitration Secretaries, Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, and Hong Kong Settlement center. The first chairperson meeting of the first session was held on the same day, and the first chairperson and vice chairperson of the Mediation Alliance were elected. The first chairperson was Mr. Su Guoliang from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Constitution of the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance (Draft) was passed in principle.

2. On March 28, 2014, the second chairman meeting of the first session of the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance was held in Qianhai, Shenzhen. The East Asia Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration became a new member of the Mediation Alliance, increasing the membership of the Mediation Alliance to thirteen.

3. In October 2014, the members of the Chairman's Meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Commercial Mediation Union passed a written vote and unanimously agreed that the Macau World Trade Center Arbitration Center would join the Mediation Union and unanimously passed the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Commercial Mediation Union Constitution (Revised Draft)". So far, the number of members of the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance has increased to 14, including six members from the Guangdong region, seven members from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and one member from the Macau Special Administrative Region.

4. On December 6, 2014, the third chairman meeting of the first session of the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance was held in the new building of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The meeting unanimously voted and approved the Alliance’s 2014 Work Report, agreed in principle to the Alliance’s 2015 work plan, and decided to hold a large-scale “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Commercial Mediation Seminar” every year, which will be held in rotation in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. The meeting also voted through the candidates for the secretary-general and deputy secretary-general of the Alliance Secretariat.

5. On December 19, 2014, the first commercial case that applied to the Guangdong,Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance for mediation was successfully settled at the Shenzhen International Arbitration Court (South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission) International Arbitration Tribunal in Qianhai. The parties in this case are all from Hong Kong and are involved in commercial disputes in Mainland China. The attorneys, mediators, and arbitrators selected by both parties are all from Hong Kong, which proves that the mediation alliance is a way to facilitate the participation of domestic and foreign lawyers, mediators, arbitrators and other professionals, including Hong Kong, and give full play to their professional skills.
