The British chartered arbitration institute course:
1. international arbitration introductory course (junior member, ACIArb)
2. intermediate member accelerated course (ARM) (intermediate member, MCIArb)
3. senior member accelerated course (ARF) (senior member, FCIArb)

 

 South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SCIA), British Chartered Arbitration Society East Asia Branch (CIArb (EAB), Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Commercial Mediation Union, Guangdong Lawyers Association, Shenzhen Lawyers Association will jointly carry out the above training courses. Arbitrators, mediators, lawyers and other professionals interested in the field of international arbitration have the opportunity to become members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration at different levels after receiving relevant training.

In order to properly arrange the training of various courses, we will investigate the needs of the relevant people for the relevant courses. Each project course takes about one and a half to two days to complete, usually scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

 

Introductory course in International Arbitration (junior member, ACIArb)
The Chartered Institute of Arbitration has a standard introductory course, Introduction to International Commercial Arbitration (2012 edition). The course is based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on Arbitration and includes the arbitration rules and procedures of several well-known arbitration institutions around the world. The textbooks have been translated into Chinese, so candidates can get English or Chinese versions of the materials.
 
The course covers ten aspects:
 
(1) the basic characteristics of International Arbitration (6) management of arbitration proceedings
(2) Arbitration Law and rules (7) court hearing
(3) the composition of the arbitral tribunal (8) arbitration fees and interest.
(4) the jurisdiction and power of the arbitral tribunal (9) the making of arbitral awards.
(5) arbitration application and reply (10) recognition and enforcement of awards.
Entry requirements:
Applicants should hold professional qualifications or industry qualifications corresponding to their profession. The course covers the model law of arbitration of the United Nations Commission on international trade law. Therefore, whether it is a party, a lawyer, a witness, a judge or an arbitrator, the course is useful for a broad understanding of the law governing the adjustment of arbitral proceedings.
How to teach?
The course is mainly taught by the instructor, and there will be some discussion sessions to help candidates familiarize themselves with arbitration settings. At the end of the course, candidate members are required to submit a written assignment explaining their understanding of arbitration practice.
Two. Intermediate member crash course (ARM) (intermediate member, MCIArb)
Course objectives:
To provide a crash course for those who have experience in litigation or arbitration and are interested in training courses, as well as candidates who are already junior members and have relevant legal qualifications, to become intermediate members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration.
To complete the course, the candidate (i) completes a pre-class assignment, which accounts for 20% of the total score; and (i i) passes a three-hour written test at the end of the course, which accounts for 80% of the total score.
How to teach?
The time for candidates to participate in the seminar is the duration of the course. The seminar included an evaluation seminar and a written examination to assess the candidates'knowledge of international arbitration, their ability to draft instruments and their ability to deal with practical and procedural issues of arbitration.
This is not a lecture course. The evaluation process is intensive, and candidates who want to get intermediate membership will be evaluated according to the criteria throughout the training process. Candidate members need to know their ability to adapt to the project. Candidates should have a prior understanding of how international arbitration works. At the end of the project, there will be a three hour written test.
Entry requirements:
The course is open to junior members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and to lawyers with legal degrees or other appropriate qualifications, such as years of practical experience. The course covers the model law of arbitration of the United Nations Commission on international trade law. Therefore, whether it is a party, a lawyer, a witness, a judge or an arbitrator, the course is valuable in understanding the law governing the adjustment of arbitral proceedings in a broad sense.
Three. Advanced member accelerated course (ARF) (senior member, FCIArb)
Course objectives:
Provide a quick way for candidates to become senior members through an international arbitration project offered by the Chartered Institute of Arbitration. The crash course is tailored for busy professionals with extensive knowledge and experience in the field of international arbitration and legal qualifications. The goal of this course is to assess the skills required to become a competent arbitrator.
How to teach?
The date for candidates to participate in face-to-face seminars is the date of the course, which has two days. The seminar included lectures, evaluation seminars and written examinations to assess the candidates'knowledge of international arbitration, their ability to draft instruments and their ability to deal with practical and procedural issues of arbitration. There will be some writing exercises before and during the seminar, including the submission of an article on arbitration law before evaluating the seminar.
Entry requirements:
The advanced membership course is open to junior and intermediate members of the Chartered Arbitration Society of the United Kingdom, as well as to those who have been in practice for at least 10 years and have extensive knowledge of international arbitration but have not yet applied to join the Chartered Arbitration Society of the United Kingdom. The course covers the model law of arbitration of the United Nations Commission on international trade law. Therefore, whether it is a party, a lawyer, a witness, a judge or an arbitrator, the course is valuable in understanding the law governing the adjustment of arbitral proceedings in a broad sense.
The evaluation process is intensive, and candidates who want to get senior membership will be evaluated according to relevant criteria throughout the training process. Candidate members need to know their ability to adapt to the project.
A four-hour verdict writing test will be arranged on a later date for those candidates who have passed the assessment.
Curriculum cost
1. introduction to international arbitration (junior member, ACIArb): RMB 3000 yuan.
2. intermediate member accelerated course (ARM) (intermediate member, MCIArb): RMB 4000 yuan.
3. senior member accelerated course (ARF) (senior member, FCIArb): RMB 6000 yuan.
(Note: Candidates who have successfully passed the Senior Members crash course will have to pay an additional fee to take the written verdict examination. )

Teaching in English.

Each course is conducted by a CIArb certified supervisor and lecturer who has extensive experience in arbitration practice.
